Liverpool-England
So my next city that I visited was Liverpool. Me, Mary, and friend Derek, headed out of Barnsley to meet Andy, another friend of Mary’s, at his house. The 4 of us pretty much hung out the whole time for the rest of my stay in England. They were a lot of fun and there were many crazy times, it was great!
Derek
Trying to be black.... lol!
This is Andy’s cousin. He was super cute but I didn’t understand much of anything that he was said. Little kid talk and strong English accent is a hard combination to understand.
You got to love Mr. Bean!
Mary’s Idol
Andy took Mary and me to the Liverpool football stadium and I was so excited! Football (soccer for us North Americans) to the English is HUGE. I think that this is where I should have been born… I so wanted to see a live game.
No fireworks… come on!
This memorial is for people who lost their lives because the stadium was too full and a balcony fell on the people killing over 100 lives in 1989 at a semi-final game. I guess being off the pitch still doesn’t mean that you are away from getting hurt.
Mary, I think we are too big to squeeze through, but it was worth the try.
So I wonder how he made the people happy?
Since it was weird and funny to them that my name was Chelsey since one of their football teams is called Chelsea, they thought it would be fun to call me whatever football team that they could think of. I was called Manchester, Liverpool, Westham, Tottenham, and Everton… just to name a few. I didn’t really care and what was funny is that I would answer to almost any football team name that they would say.
So as I was saying in my previous blog, it was great to be in a country that spoke my language again, but a lot of the time you really don’t think that both of you are speaking in the same language. All over England, depending from where they are from their accent will be a lot different. And the people from Liverpool have a really strong accent and I had to listen really carefully or I couldn’t catch what they were saying.

Pretty close hey?
It was BEAUTIFUL….
Both Mary and me love football a lot and we had a lot of fun and we wanted to buy almost everything in the store but it’s super expensive. They make a killing!
Why is it that stadiums are usually beside the ghetto?
They really are serious about doggy do-do clean up, yikes!
We only drove by the Everton stadium so I just got a quick picture.
It was really cool for both Mary and me but I was hoping that I would see a football player, but that didn’t happen…
Next stop….Wales!!!

Haha, I love how you have all these photos of soccer related stuff, and then "some church" thrown in for good measure:) Quite the cultured lass aren't ya???
Come on. Bill Shankly? Anybody that has "Shank" in their last name can make people happy.
Don't you just love England? I could totally live there!
