Before Spain, Gaining Friends
So I have to tell you the reason why I went to Spain....
During our working time I work at the Health Center beside us and I help the therapists with whatever they need and I am learning massage, hydrotherapy, fever treatment, tea baths and other treatments. I really love to work over there bc I get the chance to get away from the school and to get to know the people that work there and get to meet many new people every 2 weeks. Usually every session there will be Romanians that can speak a little English and I am so glad for that even though a lot of the time the little bit of English that they do speak is really only a little bit. But a couple times I have been lucky to work with ladies from USA and England. And it is so great be able to talk with patients without having to use my Romanian, it makes it a lot easier on my brain...lol
So in December on one of the walks in the afternoon with the patients I met these two girls, Oana who is 22 and Eva who is 19. Oana has blond hair and blue eyes and Eva has blown hair and brown eyes, so when I heard that they were sisters I couldn't believe it. They don't look alike at all so I thought that they were friends. Oana knows some English so she could speak to me a little bit but only so much. And Eva only knew a couple of words. So most of the time I had my friend translating for us. It was really neat after the second day talking with them we really started to click and it was like I had known them for a long time. And when it was just the 3 of us and no one to translate, at the beginning it was interesting bc it was all about talking in our own languages and trying to make the other person understand, it was really hilarious. Then we started to understand each other using a little English, a little Spanish and Romanian. (They know Spanish fluently bc they have lived in Spain for the past 6 years.) It was great using 3 languages to communicate and then you can't forget the best one that usually saves you: hand language.... and it did so many times. I never thought that I would ever communicate with someone in 3 different languages! You know that you are in Europe when that happens.
We found this snake skin as we were walking. I have never seen a snake so I didn't think that there were any but I guess that there are and they are bigger that I thought they would be.
So I used all of my free time with them and it was great getting to know them. Most of the time it was showing each other pictures, playing ping pong, having fun in the forest, and trying to teach them Dutch Blitz! I am thankful that that is a pretty easy game to explain and since I know numbers in Romanian it worked out. At the end of the session it was really hard having to say goodbye to them bc we had become really good friends. We exchanged e-mails and they said that they might come back for another session, and they would e-mail and let me know.
After I got back from England in Jan. I hadn't really thought about the girls much. Then someone told me that they saw the girls at the Health Center and I got so excited. I ran over there right away and I jumped on them and it was so so so great to see them. (I like most of the people that I live with here but I have to be with them 24/7 so I get bored with them so I love being able to meet and spend time with new people. Seeing the girls totally made my week and a half. It was such a great surprise. And we could communicate even better this time, it was awesome. Both of us shared more pictures from the Holiday and their family got to go skiing and I was so jealous when I saw there pictures from the mountains. I've really missed not be able to go at all this year....
So again all the good times had to come to an end and I had to say goodbye. They told me that if I had vacation later that they would love to have me visit them. So in the middle of March I contacted them and asked them if I could still come visit them and they were excited and were waiting for me to come. So this is how my trip to Spain all got started......
