Everything has changed- From the beginning....

So as most of you know I am in Romania right now and will be until August. I am here taking Health Evangelism mission school. I know it’s crazy right? I wanted to come because I don’t know what I am doing with my life and it looked interesting. But now that I have been here a little while I really don’t know. But God did bring me here and I guess that this is where He wants me. Hopefully he will show me why soon.

Only having 3 days at home after coming back from the Guatemala mission trip was really really hard for me. I was so tired from that trip and then I had to pack like crazy for everything that I would need for a year. I figured out that packing for a year can’t be done and you just hope that you can buy everything you need once you get there. And why did they have to make a weight limit for luggage? That just makes packing even harder. AHHH!

I was so over whelmed the night before. It was hitting me really hard that I would be gone for so long and I didn’t want to leave anymore. Melanie (bless her soul) ended up packing everything for me while I tried to get some sleep. She didn’t sleep at all and she was still doing things when I got up. Before we grabbed all my stuff and went out the door I went and hugged my bed and a wall in my room and said goodbye to everything . You probably think that that is funny but it was really hard for me. I have lived in that house all of my life and I have never left for more than 2 months and it was never going very far away.

It was really great that my mom and sister could come with me and say goodbye at the airport. I hate goodbyes so much, they are one of the worst things you have to do. And it’s especially hard when you have to say bye to your mom and sister who has always been there and helped you with everything, I may be the tallest in our house but I am still the baby and act like it most of the time.

Mel stayed with me until security and then she had to walk away. I didn’t want her to bc I didn’t want to travel by myself and especially going so far on a plane. But it had to be done. So after I waited forever for security (people are really stupid, no liquids means no liquids! Like come on….)

I finally got on the plane and it was huge! I think that there was about 400 people. I had an aisle seat in the middle which was good bc I didn’t have to move for anybody and I could get up whenever I wanted to. And it was good that I was right beside the washroom so I didn’t have to go far. But when you are sleeping it’s really not cool when you wake up to a old man’s butt in your face while he is waiting in line for the bathroom and leaning on your seat. It scary waking up to that. Anyway so my flight was at 1pm and my flight was 8.5 hours, I slept most of the time since I was really tired. The time change and everything was very weird. They gave us lunch and then a couple hours later I got breakfast, since I missed half a day.

Once I got to Frankfurt I was getting scared bc I had no idea where I was going and so I just followed the crowd and they showed me, it’s a good thing I at least know how to do that. After waiting over an hour for my luggage I was really praying that it made it’s way here and luckily it did. It was so hard moving my suitcase bc it was so heavy. Seeing everything in German was really strange, all their words are so long, I am so glad that they have English almost everywhere. The airport is seriously like a mini city in itself. I was walking forever to find where I check in and where my gate was, and being half asleep I was going turtle speed. When I had to wait over an hour for my plane I wanted to sleep so bad but I was too paranoid that someone might steal my things and a lot of people told me to watch my things carefully so I stayed awake.

So the next plane was to Austria and that was only an hour and a half long and I don’t even remember taking off, as soon as I sat down I think I fell asleep. I woke up when they were passing out drinks and little chocolates called Milka, they were so good. Apparently Austria makes one of the best chocolates and it is true. Once we landed I was starting to freak out bc I was supposed to be boarding my plane that minute and I didn’t know how far away my gate was or anything. I went as fast as I could with my 40 pound back pack and luckily it wasn’t far like in Germany and they were just starting to board when I got there.

Last plane was to Timisouara Romania(can’t spell well). That flight was only one hour and it went by really quickly. Once we landed I couldn’t wait to get off of the plane and go outside.

Glad you arrived safely. I remember my trip to Europe. One flight Calgary-Amsterdam and then 2 straight days on the train to Bergen, Norway. I didn't sleep for 3 days/nights.
